In today’s lesson you will learn how to make and use the II Type of Conditional sentences.

IF + Past Simple Tense, WOULD/WOULDN’T + Infinitive
Use the 2nd Conditional when you want to say how things would be different now or in the future if the circumstances were different too.
examples
- If I had a million dollars, I would buy a house on an exotic island. (Kad bih imao milion dolara, kupio bih kuću na egzotičnom ostrvu.)
- If we earned more money, we would move to a better area of the city. (Kad bismo zarađivali više novca, preselili bismo se u bolji deo grada.)
- She would get a good job, if she had better education. (Ona bi dobila dobar posao kad bi imala bolje obrazovanje.)

Life on a Desert Island

Imagine you had an accident at sea. Your ship was hit by a torpedo, and it sank into the ocean. You and 5 other people survived, but you all ended up on a desert island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You have some food and water for two days, and now you have to think about surviving in the future. Read about the POSSIBILITIES, and try to answer the questions on possible SOLUTIONS. Then check your answers below each sentence.

Example: If we didn’t have a lighter, we would find some rocks and wooden sticks to try to light a fire.
1. If we had a knife, we would use it to cut wood for fire.
If we found a coconut, we would break it and drink the water from it.
