Kako se koriste članovi u engleskom

clan u engleskom, kako se koristi a, an, the

JEDNINA

Kada govorimo o stvarima u jednini uopšte, koristimo neodređeni član A (AN)

  • I want to buy John a book for his birthday. = Želim da kupim Džonu knjigu za rođendan. (Neodređeno koju.)
  •
  • Can you give me an apple, please. = Daj mi jabuku. (Bilo kakvu jabuku.)
  •
  • Varijaciju „an“ neodređenog člana koristimo kada sledeća reč počinje samoglasnikom (a, e, i, o, i ponekad u). an apple, an egg, an interesting film.

  • Did John like the book you gave him?
  •
  • Don’t give me the apple that Sam didn’t finish! Give me another one. = Nemoj da mi daješ onu jabuku koju Sem nije pojeo do kraja. Daj mi drugu.

MNOŽINA i NEBROJIVE IMENICE

  • I want to buy John (some) books for his birthday.
  •
  • Can you buy (some) coffee when you go to the supermarket? =  Možeš li da kupiš kafu kad budeš išla u prodavnicu? (Neku, bilo kakvu kafu.)

  • Did John like the books you gave him?
  •
  • Can you buy the coffee that you bought last week?
